Making Memories by Belinda Leen

In response to COVID-19 the ‘Live Up’ COVID COMMUNITY was set up to support our communities with practical wellbeing resources that can be used for these extraordinary circumstances of social distancing, community lockdown and quarantine. This article is from Belinda Leen and it is based around ‘Taking Notice’ one of the 5 Ways of Wellbeing.

So making memories, capturing them, and saving them for my boys has always been important to me. We live in a digital age where memories may stay on our phones, not ever to be printed…the travesty! There is nothing I love more than travelling with the boys and creating beautiful albums of our adventures. Unfortunately though, we live in busy times and my life as a student, part time worker and mum eats up so much of my day that there isn’t a lot left for crafting…and then we went into lockdown, and now I have all the time in the world! Whoo Hooo!!!

So why photograph and document this point in time? It’s hardly filled with beautiful vistas and exciting new places. But it is a period in our lives I want us to remember. I want to celebrate the ordinary and look at simple pleasures with a new light, because unfortunately, within our busy lives, all these simple things are sometimes rushed or overlooked.

So, every day, I take photos of those little things…a bike ride within our bubble, a book read, or a game shared with the family. I then upload the photos onto the Pic Collage App on my phone, create a college, and post on Facebook as a forever reminder of my day in this beautiful country, within these extraordinary circumstances.

Instructions on how to make your own Pic Collage

Step 1 - Download the Pic Collage App…it’s FREE!!! Push Get Started on the App.

Step 2 - Select your photos of your day from your Camera Roll.

Step 3 - Choose a grid pattern you like and the App will place your selected photos on the space accordingly.

Step 4 - Add your text to the layout if you wish.

The collage is now ready to share if you wish or simply to keep as your own record.

So there you have it, I hope this inspires you to look beyond the mundane in which you may feel as though you are living right now, and to take joy in those special wee moments you can create with people in your bubble right here right now. And who knows, you too might feel inspired to print them out into an album like me…a record of the longest stay-cation we have EVER had!!!
