7. My Own Type Of Fun In A Run Running Again Don’t you find that every now and then life gets in the way? Sometimes, I get so caught up in life I lose connection to what really makes me tick. I have always exercised, trained and pushed myself. Over the last couple of years I’ve eased off a bit on the intensity side of things. When I was training for mountain running if I wasn’t on a mountain I would train on my treadmill at home. I had this one particular workout that was like a true, honesty measure of how fit I was. For this ‘19 for 19, live up to you’ challenge I got back on the treadmill and every third day I pushed myself and on the other days I did an easier workout. Those workouts were hard! I had to psych myself up before each session and it’s fair to say I am a shadow of my former self in regards to what I could do. However, what a feeling! what a buzz! what an aliveness! I felt young again! I forgot how good it feels to really push myself physically to the point where my mind and body battle for ultimate control. I forgot the buzzing and vibration that every cell resonates with when I finish a work out and my body is in recovery mode. I know that pushing yourself to oblivion on a treadmill isn’t everyone’s idea of fun, but it is for me! My advice to you is find the thing that makes you feel alive, the challenge that is fun for you. Everyone is different in what fills up their soul. Go ahead ‘you do you’ and love it!
