12. Notice the Beauty

One of New Zealand’s Mental Health Foundation’s 5 Ways to Wellbeing is to ‘Take Notice’. To remember the simple things that fill you with joy. For this challenge I was to notice something beautiful that I had never noticed before. I chose to do this in the car on my way to work and when ferrying the boys around on weekends. I don’t know about you but often I’m on automatic pilot when getting from A to B. This challenge turned out to be really fun and the boys joined in too. All I can say is when you’re not noticing you are missing out!!! We noticed little things everywhere like: the smiley sign saying “have a nice day”; the winter skies; the snow dust on the mountains and the people who are super courteous on the road. We were all more attuned, present, curious and available on our everyday road-trips. I think a future challenge could be notice the beauty in people.
