7. Random Acts of Kindness Kindness Based on the good old Random Acts of Kindness idea. For 18 days I did something nice for someone everyday without expecting anything back. This was what I call a service challenge where whatever I did took time and was a ‘action’ of kindness. It was a super simple challenge and it took me out of self-centeredness into seeing the world from a different perspective. I noticed more the everyday struggles that people go through and where possible I tried to do something kind to help. It felt good. There is a whole lot of research around compassion which is where you see someone in need and you feel the desire to help. Compassion is known as the ‘master prosocial emotion’ and the reality is as human beings our brains are hard-wired for it but sometimes it takes a little challenge to unlock it! I will do a challenge in the future called Deliberate Acts of Kindness where I intentionally plan to be kind to someone rather than looking for random situations to be kind in. Go to Blog for more details on why compassion is considered the ‘master’ prosocial emotion. Megan MartinMay 7, 2018Comment Facebook0 Twitter LinkedIn0 Reddit Tumblr Pinterest0 0 Likes
